Special Education Resource Teacher  (5th & 6th Grade)

Spotter Staffing is hiring a Special Education Resource Teacher for the 2026 school year. This position supports a small group of 18 upper elementary students through a blend of direct resource instruction and inclusive co-teaching support within the general education classroom.

Students spend part of their day receiving targeted academic support in a smaller resource setting and part of their day learning alongside their peers in general education classrooms with support from both the special education and general education teacher.

  • Start date: August 2026
  • Hours: 7:40 AM – 2:40 PM
  • Wednesdays begin at 7:00 AM
  • Pay: Up to $56/hour

What the Schedule Looks Like

This teacher’s day is split between:

  • Three periods of resource instruction
  • Three periods of co-taught classroom support

During resource periods, the teacher works with a smaller group of students on targeted math and reading support, reteaching concepts, strengthening executive functioning skills, supporting accommodations, and helping students build confidence academically.

During co-taught periods, the teacher works inside the general education classroom alongside the classroom teacher to support students in real time during core instruction. This may include:

  • Small group instruction
  • Modifying assignments and instruction
  • Providing accommodations and redirection
  • Supporting comprehension and task completion
  • Helping students stay engaged and successful in the general education setting

The role is highly collaborative and ideal for someone who enjoys both relationship-based support and active classroom instruction.

Support Structure

This position includes additional support from a dedicated case manager who assists with:

  • IEP goals and documentation
  • Scheduling and coordination
  • Parent communication
  • Compliance and case management responsibilities

This structure allows the teacher to spend more time focused on instruction, collaboration, and student growth rather than carrying the full administrative burden alone.

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • LBS1 endorsement preferred
  • Experience supporting students with academic and learning needs preferred
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Comfortable working both in small group settings and inclusive classrooms

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with employer contributions
  • Paid leave available immediately upon eligibility
