Special Education Resource Teacher (5th & 6th Grade)
Spotter Staffing is hiring a Special Education Resource Teacher for the 2026 school year. This position supports a small group of 18 upper elementary students through a blend of direct resource instruction and inclusive co-teaching support within the general education classroom.
Students spend part of their day receiving targeted academic support in a smaller resource setting and part of their day learning alongside their peers in general education classrooms with support from both the special education and general education teacher.
Position Details
- Full-time position for the 2026 school year
- Start date: August 2026
- Hours: 7:40 AM – 2:40 PM
- Wednesdays begin at 7:00 AM
- Pay: Up to $56/hour
What the Schedule Looks Like
This teacher’s day is split between:
- Three periods of resource instruction
- Three periods of co-taught classroom support
During resource periods, the teacher works with a smaller group of students on targeted math and reading support, reteaching concepts, strengthening executive functioning skills, supporting accommodations, and helping students build confidence academically.
During co-taught periods, the teacher works inside the general education classroom alongside the classroom teacher to support students in real time during core instruction. This may include:
- Small group instruction
- Modifying assignments and instruction
- Providing accommodations and redirection
- Supporting comprehension and task completion
- Helping students stay engaged and successful in the general education setting
The role is highly collaborative and ideal for someone who enjoys both relationship-based support and active classroom instruction.
Support Structure
This position includes additional support from a dedicated case manager who assists with:
- IEP goals and documentation
- Scheduling and coordination
- Parent communication
- Compliance and case management responsibilities
This structure allows the teacher to spend more time focused on instruction, collaboration, and student growth rather than carrying the full administrative burden alone.
Qualifications
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
- LBS1 endorsement preferred
- Experience supporting students with academic and learning needs preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Comfortable working both in small group settings and inclusive classrooms
