Special Education Teacher – Instructional Resource Classroom (5th & 6th Grade)
Spotter Staffing is hiring a Special Education Teacher for an instructional resource classroom serving fifth and sixth grade students during the 2026–27 school year.
This position is designed for a teacher who enjoys building strong relationships, providing targeted academic intervention, and supporting students with varying levels of need in a smaller, structured setting.
Position Details
- Full-time for the 2026–27 school year
- Start date: August 2026
- Hours: 7:40 AM – 2:40 PM
- Wednesdays: Staff arrive 45 minutes early or stay 45 minutes later for collaboration and planning
- Pay: Up to $58/hour
What an Instructional Resource Classroom Looks Like
This classroom serves students who require additional academic support beyond the general education setting while still participating in portions of the school day with their peers.
In this role:
- Approximately 3–4 students will spend most of the day in the instructional resource classroom
- An additional 6–10 students will rotate in and out throughout the day based on their IEP service minutes and academic needs
- Instruction is focused primarily on math and reading intervention, reteaching, skill reinforcement, executive functioning support, and helping students access grade-level curriculum
Unlike a fully self-contained classroom, this setting often blends:
- Small group instruction
- Pull-out academic support
- Modified instruction
- Classroom collaboration
- Skill-building tied directly to student IEP goals and grade-level expectations
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and small group instruction in math and reading
- Support students with varying academic, behavioral, and executive functioning needs
- Differentiate instruction based on student ability levels
- Help students build independence, organization, confidence, and classroom participation skills
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service staff
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and IEP supports within daily instruction
- Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation

Qualifications
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
- LBS1 endorsement preferred
- Experience supporting upper elementary or middle school students preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to manage a classroom with students rotating throughout the day
