Pay: Up to $60/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
The opportunity
Spotter Staffing is looking for a certified special education teacher to cover a maternity leave in a low incidence, self-contained classroom. You'll lead a small class of 3 students with developmental disabilities. One student uses a wheelchair. Each student has a dedicated 1:1 aide, and a strong team of on-site wraparound service providers backs you up.
What you'll do
- Lead instruction in a functional life skills program
- Implement and follow each student's IEP goals and accommodations
- Track progress and complete required documentation and data collection
- Direct and collaborate with the 1:1 aides
- Work with related service providers (OT, PT, speech, social work, etc.) and communicate with families
- Keep the classroom safe, structured, and supportive, including the needs of a student with mobility support
What we're looking for
- Valid Illinois special education license or endorsement (LBS1) [confirm with the district what will be accepted]
- Experience with low incidence or self-contained classrooms, or with students with developmental disabilities
- Comfort with IEP implementation, functional curriculum, and personal care and mobility needs
- Patient, dependable, and a strong team player
- Able to start in November and commit through the end of the leave
