  • Location: Near Libertyville, Illinois
  • Type: Contract
  • Job #3099

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)  (Part-Time School Consultant)

  • Near Libertyville, IL
  • K-8 School District
  • Pay: Up to $60/hour
  • About 15 hours/week
  • Flexible schedule

The opportunity
A suburban Illinois school district has recently enrolled several students whose needs are greater than the team has supported before. They're looking for a BCBA to observe those students, work directly with them, and coach the teachers and related service staff on strategies that work. This is a hands-on consulting role, not a paperwork role. You'll be building staff skill so the results last after you leave.

Who you'll support
About six students with a range of needs, including:

  • A student with significant behaviors, including biting
  • A student with school refusal (arrives at school but won't enter the classroom)
  • A student new to the country with no prior formal schooling
  • Additional students with similar complex needs

What you'll do

  • Observe students across settings and gather baseline data
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans
  • Work directly with students to model strategies and test what works
  • Coach teachers, aides, and related service providers using modeling, feedback, and follow-up
  • Train staff on safe, effective responses to challenging behavior
  • Set up data collection systems and review progress regularly
  • Communicate with the director and team, and contribute to IEP and team meetings as needed
  • Recommend supports for students who are adjusting to a school setting for the first time

Requirements

  • Active BCBA certification through the BACB
  • Illinois Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) status, or confirmation that the school-based setting is exempt [confirm before posting]
  • Experience in schools or with school-age students
  • Strong coaching skills. You can work with staff at different comfort levels without creating friction
  • Experience with severe challenging behavior, school refusal, or students with limited prior education is a plus
  • Background check and any required school clearances

Schedule
About 15 hours per week. The director is flexible on days and times, so you can build the hours around your other work.

Why this role
Good pay, a flexible schedule, and a supportive director. It fits well alongside other clinical work or as a step into school-based consulting. You'll also see real results, because the team wants to learn and the students need it.
